The third workshop for the Atlantic County LRSP convened participants to provide an update on Local Road Safety Plan development progress​, brainstorm behavioral strategies next steps​, and share infrastructure project recommendations. Focus Group Meetings

February, 2024

As part of the development of a Local Road Safety Plan for Atlantic County, the county steering committee will prioritize infrastructure and non-infrastructure strategies to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on county and municipal roads. Two virtual focus group meetings were held in February 2024 that brought together a broader group of stakeholders consisting of residents, business owners, and so on to gather input on strategies to reduce fatalities on municipal and county roads in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties. Focus group meeting attendees had an opportunity to cast their vote on strategies that they thought would be most effective if implemented. Their votes will be presented to the county steering committees to help prioritize strategies.

The first session discussed strategies to reduce serious crashes focusing on:

  • Intersections Crashes

  • Pedestrian and Bicyclist Crashes

The second session discussed strategies to reduce serious crashes focusing on:

  • Lane Departure Crashes

  • Aggressive Driving Crashes

  • Drowsy/Distracted Driving Crashes

January 23, 2024

The Atlantic County LRSP Steering Committee convened its fourth meeting. Discussions included selecting initial hotspot location priorities, selecting non-infrastructure strategies, selecting goals, and a compliance check-in.

September 8, 2023 

The Atlantic County LRSP Steering Committee convened its third meeting. Discussions included a review of Safe Systems Assessment of plans and policies, the Systemic Safety Analysis and countermeasures, hotspot analysis, and stakeholder and public coordination.

The Atlantic County LRSP Steering Committee convened its second meeting. Discussions included a review of Safe Systems Analysis, the selection of Focus Facilities, safe systems assessment, indicators for potential disadvantage, and elected officials’ briefings.
