The Cape May County Commissioners met to consider a resolution of support for the Cape May County Local Road Safety Plan and the goal of 50% reduction in fatalities and serious injuries by 2050.

Attendees had the opportunity to view several display boards to learn about the plan including the proposed projects and behavioral strategies to help achieve the goal of a 50% reduction of fatal and serious injury crashes by 2050. Comment cards were available to provide input on the draft plan.
Focus Group Meetings
February, 2024
As part of the development of a Local Road Safety Plan for Cape May County, the county steering committee will prioritize infrastructure and non-infrastructure strategies to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on county and municipal roads. Two virtual focus group meetings were held in February 2024 that brought together a broader group of stakeholders consisting of residents, business owners, and so on to gather input on strategies to reduce fatalities on municipal and county roads in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties. Focus group meeting attendees had an opportunity to cast their vote on strategies that they thought would be most effective if implemented. Their votes will be presented to the county steering committees to help prioritize strategies.

Pedestrian and Bicyclist Crashes
The second session discussed strategies to reduce serious crashes focusing on:
Lane Departure Crashes
Aggressive Driving Crashes
Drowsy/Distracted Driving Crashes

The Cape May County LRSP Steering Committee convened its fourth meeting. Discussions included selecting initial hotspot location priorities, selecting non-infrastructure strategies, selecting goals, and a compliance check-in.

The Cape May County LRSP Steering Committee convened its third meeting. Discussions included a review of Safe Systems Assessment of plans and policies, the Systemic Safety Analysis and countermeasures, hotspot analysis, and stakeholder and public coordination.
